Abstract

Integrating information systems (IS) has become essential in the evolving management landscape. This chapter examines the multifaceted role of IS in enhancing management frameworks and practices, offering a comprehensive analysis of the evolution and impact of these systems. It explores current technological trends, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and big data analytics, and examines how these advancements redefine management strategies. The chapter highlights the numerous benefits of IS integration, such as improved efficiency, informed decision-making, and streamlined communication. It also addresses the challenges organisations face, from cybersecurity threats to resistance to technological change, and discusses the ethical and social considerations, particularly data privacy and the digital divide. Future directions emphasise organisations’ need to adapt to ongoing technological shifts proactively. The chapter concludes with practical recommendations to guide organisations in effectively harnessing the power of integrating IS for enhanced management efficacy. The findings and discussions presented offer valuable insights into the intersection of technology and organisational practices, making this chapter particularly relevant for contemporary management challenges.
