Abstract

This book highlights CSR and R&D strategies as critical components for achieving corporate sustainability, which form a micro-foundation of social and economic sustainable development. From a stakeholder management perspective, we present empirical analyses investigating channels that link CSR and R&D strategies to organizational capabilities for enhancing competitive advantages amid changing environmental, social, and economic conditions. Based on the empirical results, we confirm the significance of aligning CSR and R&D strategies as a tandem approach to achieving corporate sustainability. With the growing urgency of addressing environmental and social issues globally, this book emphasizes the increasing importance of strategic multi-stakeholder engagement of business corporations to continuously involve stakeholders in long-term value creation and innovation—an indispensable step toward achieving a common sustainable development agenda.
