Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die meisten Plattformen operieren in einem Umfeld, in dem in der Regel nur der Gewinner zum Zuge kommt. Zu den wichtigsten Bedingungen für Winner-takes-all-Märkte (WTA) gehören starke Netzwerkeffekte, hohe Multihoming-Kosten und das Fehlen besonderer Präferenzen für eine Seite der Nutzenden. In Anbetracht dieser Bedingungen muss unbedingt untersucht werden, warum bestimmte Märkte WTA-Märkte bleiben und von einer oder höchstens einigen wenigen Plattformen mit sehr wenig Wettbewerb dominiert werden. Dieses Kapitel befasst sich mit den Strategien von Plattformen, die auf Winner-takes-all-Märkten tätig sind.
