Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic has ushered in the need for a digital revolution in governance and administration across the world. E-governance, or online delivery of government services, has become a key approach to ensure the continuity of services during lockdowns and quarantines. This study was conducted to examine the role of e-governance policies adopted in the wake of COVID-19 across the world. This chapter presents an overview of e-governance as a concept and its importance during COVID-19. It is supported by exhaustive examples of some e-governance policies utilized by developed as well as developing countries around the globe during the pandemic. Following this study, the impact of these e-governance policies has been discussed and suggestions were given related to the areas which need to be improved to effectively continue the e-governance practices of the governments even after the pandemic COVID-19 moves into a decline, as these policies ensure speedy execution of work, transparency, and accountability.
