Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Kapitel wird die Rolle des Amazonasgebiets und von Umweltfragen in den Dialogen zwischen Brasilien und China erörtert. Dabei wird der wirtschaftliche Wandel des Regenwaldes analysiert und wie er zu einer wichtigen Quelle für Sojabohnen, Eisenerz und Fleisch für den chinesischen Markt wurde. Der Text erklärt, wie Regierungen und Unternehmen versuchen, mit den sozialen und ökologischen Auswirkungen von Chinas Handel und Investitionen umzugehen. Er zeigt auf, wie sich Brasilia und Peking in einer selbstbewussteren Klimadiplomatie annähern und mehr Verantwortung bei der Eindämmung von Kohlenstoffemissionen und dem Schutz des Amazonas übernehmen.
