Abstract

One of the most important capabilities for a company to survive is the capability to transform and surpass itself. When the market or technology transforms, if the leading company is constrained by its old thinking patterns and underlying organizational structure, it will miss the window of opportunity for adaptation and transformation. The old core competencies will turn into obstacles as the original system is unable to adapt to the changing environment. Different company leaders have different perceptions of the market and technological transformation, and different interpretations of the timing, the speed, and the intensity of transformation. In this regard, companies can be categorized into the following types: proactive, adaptive, reactive, and eliminative.
