Abstract

This chapter presents the author’s positions on digital platforms and their organizational changes, when the platform created new formats of market exchange, and received quantitative confirmation of market leadership in the capitalization of companies with digital platforms. Companies choose either joining the existing digital ecosystem or creating a new ecosystem, and the authors justify this choice. Investments in digital business are associated with the digital platforms’ evolution, but a digital paradox is possible when, as total investments in digital business grow, companies do not receive the expected increase in revenue. The authors prove the reason for the digital paradox in the refusal of companies to change their business models, including the transition from a digital platform to platform ecosystem.
