Abstract

The UK, which was formed by the merger of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in 1800, has deep-rooted political and administrative traditions. Some democratic and administrative practices, which are still implemented by many countries, were born and developed in England. The UK played a leading role in the development of the parliamentary system and the emergence of public administration reforms based on the understanding of new public management. In addition, the legal system called common law, in which there is no distinction between public and private law, has emerged and developed in England. This study aims to discuss the public administration system of the UK, which is one of the important and developed countries, in light of the administrative and bureaucratic history, characteristics of the central and local governments, public personnel system, NGOs, and public administration reforms of this country.
