Definition of Global Economic Governance

Abstract

This section discusses who are to govern, referring to the bodies in charge of setting global economic governance rules. Actors of global economic governance fall in three categories: First category, nation-states; the second category includes formal and informal inter-governmental organizations, such as the UN, World Bank, IMF, WTO, G20 and APEC; the third category is global civil society organizations (or international non-governmental organizations).1 Besides, multinational companies facilitate to organize relationships at all links on the global value chain and thus are the most important market force in global economic governance.
