Abstract

Quantum entities like light have a dual wave/particle nature because, at the fundamental quantum level, they are superpositions of many possibilities. This chapter argues the same is true of the quantum self. Each of us is a superposition of many possible personalities and many possible life scripts. Each of us is actually a multitude, any one of our possibilities emerging in some given context or social relationship, but then receding and giving way to another in a different context or social situation. This offers us the opportunity to enjoy a rich array of “many lives” within our one life, and chapter advocates that we do so. Sets up later idea that a quantum company is a multitude of many companies, and quantum global order a “community of nations with shared futures”.
