Abstract

Micro finance plays a vital role in empowering women entrepreneurs in rural Sri Lanka is a critical and evolving area of study. This study explores the impact of micro finance on women’s empowermentWomen's empowerment through entrepreneurship development in the context of rural Sri Lanka. Micro finance has emerged as a powerful tool for poverty alleviation and women's empowerment, providing access to financial and non-financial services to the women in many developing countries like Sri Lanka. Through a literature review and primary data including case studies this study examines the impact of micro finance on women empowerment in rural Sri Lanka. It also considers the challenges and opportunities faced by women entrepreneurs in rural Sri Lanka in accessing and utilizing micro finance services effectively. The findings revealed that while micro finance has the potential to significantly empower women entrepreneurs, there is a need for tailored approaches that address the unique socio-cultural and economic contexts of rural Sri Lanka to maximize its impact.
