Abstract

I would like to begin by saying that this paper is largely of a general and impressionistic nature. I have been associated with the women’s movement in India for a very long time now, and it seems to me that we have been witnessing a progressive thinning down of the links between academics and activists involved in this movement. So at this present juncture, it has become all the more important to put down in black and white, for posterity, the fragmented experiences of those who had remained involved in the movement since the time when these changes had not taken place. This urge has motivated me to do my little bit in this regard.
