Abstract

This chapter focuses on quality of life and wellbeing research in a tourism context. The research stream has gained significant attention and is likely to receive more consideration in the years to come. First, the chapter provides an overview of the extant literature relating to the topic along with various theoretical frameworks that are used in exploring the link between tourism activities and quality of life. Second, it further provides some examples associated with the implementation of quality of life practices aimed at improving the wellbeing of key tourism stakeholders. The chapter concludes with a discussion of challenges posed by the ongoing impact of COVID-19 and considers future research on the quality of life of tourists, residents, and industry employees.
