Abstract

Appendix 4 delves into three distinct cases of rural collective economy in post-Mao era China: Tangyue Village, Puhan Community, and Haotang Village. Tangyue’s success, marked by a remarkable economic turnaround through collective land management, illustrates grassroots initiatives in rural economic revitalization. Puhan Community’s self-sufficiency model showcases the potential of locally driven, comprehensive development. Meanwhile, Haotang Village’s innovative financial cooperative and land capitalization offer insights into addressing rural economic challenges amid rapid urbanization. Despite successes, each case faces challenges like market dependency and organizational tensions. These cases offer insights into rural development, suggesting innovative approaches to bolster collective economies amidst China’s evolving socio-economic landscape.
