Abstract

This chapter provides an overview of the environment in which transformation takes place, describes what organizations and businesses are and how they are changing and introduces the reader to how organizations operate in an increasingly dynamic and complex environment. Increasingly, change in such environments often results from disruption, which may be local to a business or indus try. This chapter then describes the importance of transformation to create new, innovative ways of working that deliver way throughout the organization.
