Abstract

This chapter explains who the angels are, what their background is, why they become angels, and how do they invest. These angels are ordinary individuals, who are motivated by combined objectives of economic and noneconomic returns. Key requirements to become an angel include spare capital, expertise, networks, and time. The angel investment process involves a series of steps from Deal Origination, Deal Selection, Deal Negotiation, Value-addition, and Exit. Angel investors can invest through formal or informal syndicates. Online Platforms have democratized angel-investing process and provide opportunity for anyone who qualifies the criteria to become their member and invest.
