Abstract

After China’s economic growth slowed down under the impact of the global financial crisis in 2008, people began to discuss whether this slowdown was cyclical or a trend. If it was the former, then, after a period of time, combined with short-term policies to stimulate growth, economic growth would return to normal. If it was the latter, measures needed to be taken to address the underlying causes of this downward trend.
