Abstract

Zusammenfassung Zu Beginn des Jahres 2008 herrschte noch Zuversicht. Die Eliten aus Wirtschaft, Wissenschaft und Politik hatten sich in Davos zum alljährlichen Weltwirtschaftsforum versammelt, und die Veranstalter kommentierten die Stimmungslage mit den Worten: “Wir stehen vor einer schwierigen Situation an den Finanzmärkten, aber wir können das Überschwappen der Krise auf die Realwirtschaft verhindern.“ Ein Jahr später war Depression an die Stelle von Optimismus getreten. “Wir erleben eine Krise der gesamten Weltwirtschaft – und wir stehen erst an ihrem Anfang“, fasste Larry Summers, Schattenwirtschaftsminister des gerade ins Amt gewählten US-Präsidenten Barack Obama, die düsteren Aussichten im Frühjahr 2009 in Davos zusammen.
