Abstract

Zusammenfassung Es ist schon Geschichte, daß sich die Geldinstitute spezialisierten und an die in ihren Gründungszielen statuierten Aufgaben hielten. Die Sparkassen konzentrierten sich auf die Aufbringung der Spargelder und das Hypothekargeschäft und leiteten die flüssigen Mittel an die Banken weiter, die wieder für die Veranlagung sorgten. Die Banken betätigten sich entweder vorwiegend als Kommerz- oder Investitionsinstitute. Ihre Geschäftspolitik versuchten sie nach der goldenen Bankregel „Die Fristigkeiten der Einlagen sollen jenen der Entnahmen entsprechen“ auszurichten. Je beweglicher der Geldmarkt wurde und je größer der Kapitalbedarf, desto problematischer gestaltete sich die Orientierung nach einem solchen Grundsatz. Insbesondere Industrieinvestitionen binden meist langfristig beträchtliche Mittel.
