Abstract

Innovation and human capital are important factors enabling endogenous growth. The importance of knowledge is stressed by (1993), who points out that income and growth differences are a result of idea gaps and not of object gaps, i.e. physical capital accumulation. (1998) stressed that changes in educational attainment and the world-wide increase in research intensity can explain 70 per cent of US growth between the 1960s and 1990s.
