Abstract

Zusammenfassung Holz ist aus Gesellschaftsspielen kaum wegzudenken, es war immer das klassische Material für Spielsteine, doch im Laufe der Zeit schlich sich auch hier das modernere Material ein: Kunststoff. Trotzdem ist der gute, alte Halmakegel, gelegentlich im Spieler-Jargon auch Pöppel genannt, aus Holz niemals ganz verschwunden und um die Jahrtausendwende gesellte sich sogar ein mittlerweile ikonischer Bruder hinzu: der Meeple. Ursprünglich als Begriff für den charakteristischen Spielstein aus dem Bestseller „Carcassonne“ gebraucht, wird das Wort heute häufig für alle Arten von Spielsteinen genutzt, hauptsächlich, wenn sie Personen oder Lebewesen allgemein darstellen.
