Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag bietet einen Überblick über die Geschichte und Entwicklung der Brettspielindustrie. Er beginnt mit den antiken Ursprüngen von Brettspielen, wie dem „Königlichen Spiel von Ur“, und führt über mittelalterliche Spiele wie Schach bis zur industriellen Revolution, die Brettspiele massenproduzierbar machte. Die moderne Brettspielbranche umfasst verschiedene Unternehmensformen, von unabhängigen Entwicklern bis zu multinationalen Konzernen, und ist durch technologische Entwicklungen wie Crowdfunding geprägt. Zudem wird auf die globale Expansion und die kulturelle Vielfalt der Brettspiele eingegangen, mit besonderem Augenmerk auf die Märkte in Europa, Nordamerika, Afrika und Asien.
