Abstract

There are enough career counselors, sometimes in a more glamorous form. To deal with the various aspects here shortly is presumptuous. However, it is important to appreciate the special features of compliance. The number of compliance officers is relatively small, the hierarchical levels are tight, if the superior is 40 years old, reports directly to the management as head of compliance and has no further professional ambitions, then everything is said about the career opportunities in the company. Another peculiarity is the dependence on the management. How this compliance is understood and lived can only be influenced to a very limited extent. This means that job satisfaction can be designed to a lesser extent than is the case with other functions. It is all the more important to carry out a regular, self-critical review of one’s own situation, to which the following chapter offers suggestions. As in all other professions, there can be successes and highlights in compliance, which is why the dealing with failures is discussed.
