Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Motorsport in Österreich verfügt über eine lange Tradition, die ihren ersten Höhepunkt in den 1960er und 1970er Jahren mit dem ersten Formel 1 Weltmeister aus Österreich, Jochen Rindt, fand. Zu dieser Zeit entstanden auch die Rennstrecken in der Steiermark, der heutige Red Bull Ring, sowie der Salzburgring, die bis heute erhalten sind und für Motorsportveranstaltungen auf höchstem Niveau stehen. Zudem konnten österreichische Piloten über die Jahrzehnte großartige Erfolge verzeichnen und somit eine große Fanbasis entwickeln. Darüber hinaus sind österreichische Unternehmen wie Red Bull oder BWT als Sponsoren weltweit aktiv. Ebenfalls aktiv im Motorsport tätig sind Unternehmen wie KTM oder Remus, die in ihren Produktsegmenten zu den Weltmarktführern zählen.
