Abstract

Zusammenfassung Spulen wir die Zeit 10 bis 15 Jahre zurück: Die Rolle der NachhaltigkeitsmanagerInnen war eine Seltenheit in der deutschen Unternehmenslandschaft. Ganz anders sieht das heute aus. So ergibt eine Schlagwortsuche nach "NachhaltigkeitsmanagerIn" oder "Sustainability ManagerIn" im Jahr 2021 auf der Vernetzungsplattform LinkedIn 1600 Suchergebnisse – allein Deutschland. Doch nicht nur die Anzahl der Nachhaltigkeitsverantwortlichen steigt, auch die Rolle an sich wandelt sich und erlangt aus inhaltlicher Perspektive immer mehr an Bedeutung. Dies wird in diesem Kapitel exemplarisch anhand des Reifegrades eines Unternehmens in Bezug auf Nachhaltigkeit beschrieben. Ebenso werden konkrete Beispiele genannt für die Positionierung der Rolle als Schnittstelle in Unternehmen. Ein Interview mit Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Stefan Schaltegger gibt Einblicke in die Bedeutung der Rolle für die nachhaltige Transformation und beschreibt die Unterscheidung zwischen expliziten und impliziten NachhaltigkeitsmanagerInnen.
