Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wie alle Bereiche des Lebens unterliegt auch der Wirtschaftsbereich stetem Wandel. Verläufe und Meilensteine dazu liefert die oft sehr aufschlussreiche Betrachtung der Wirtschaftsgeschichte (Walter, 2011) oder der Unternehmensgeschichte (Plumpe, 2018). Wie sehr wir in manchen der entwickelten Industriestaaten mit den Vor- und Nachteilen des von uns gewählten (!) Wirtschaftssystems des Kapitalismus hadern und dabei jedoch immer wieder durch die damit verbundene Wahlentscheidung auf uns selbst zurückgeworfen werden, zeigen die erhellenden Reflexionen von Werner Plumpe (2019). Dieser Detaillierungsgrad wäre im Kontext dieses Buches jedoch nicht zielführend. Ausreichend für unsere Belange ist die Darstellung der Makro- und Mikrophasen der industriellen und technologischen Revolutionen sowie einer eher schlagwortartigen Gegenüberstellung zentraler Merkmale der Old und New Economy. Beides findet sich in den nachfolgenden Abbildungen und erläuternden Kurztexten.
