Abstract

Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag versucht „China“ aus verschiedenen Aspekten, aber vor allem aus der Perspektive des langjährigen Bundestagsabgeordneten Dr. Hans-Peter Friedrich zu beleuchten. Zwischen Transatlantischer Überzeugung und China-Verbundenheit schreibt Dr. Friedrich: Vor über 20 Jahren war ich als neu gewählter Bundestagsabgeordneter mit meinem damaligen Landesgruppenvorsitzenden Michael Glos das erste Mal in China. Der erste Besuch in Peking in der „Großen Halle des Volkes“ und anschließend in der „Verbotenen Stadt“ bleibt mir in unvergesslicher Erinnerung. Diese Stadt stand und steht seit vielen Jahrzehnten für den Machtanspruch, das Selbstbewusstsein und das Potential Chinas.“ Auf den ersten Besuch sind viele weitere gefolgt und spiegeln sich in den zahlreichen Erfahrungen wider. Von diesen Erfahrungen berichtet Herr Dr. Friedrich und beginnt bei Chinas großer Geschichte, der Wissbegier vom Westen zu lernen, der Kommunistischen Partei Chinas und beschreibt die Erfolge und Herausforderungen, vor denen China steht, um seine Position in der Welt zu finden.
