Abstract

Zusammenfassung Alles, was einmal geboren wird, muss irgendwann auch wieder sterben – es ist nur eine Frage der Zeit. Diese Erkenntnis wird durch die S-förmige Kurve im Produktlebenszyklus abgebildet und kann für die Ableitung wirksamer Produktstrategien genutzt werden. Der Produktlebenszyklus ist die Basis für das Gelingen einer langfristig erfolgreichen Produktprogrammpolitik. Die zeitlichen Abschnitte dieses Instruments – die Lebenszyklusphasen – beinhalten idealtypische Merkmale, aus denen Rückschlüsse auf die Produkt- und Sortimentspolitik sowie den Marketingmix gezogen werden können. Der Leser erfährt in diesem Kapitel alles über die typischen Eigenschaften der einzelnen Phasen. Anhand eines Beispiels wird gezeigt, wie die Lebenszyklusposition eines Produktes bestimmt wird. Darüber hinaus erhält er ausführliche Handlungsanregungen, die aus dieser Position abgeleitet werden können.
