Abstract

Zusammenfassung Um den Anforderungen des deutschen Lieferkettensorgfaltspflichtengesetzes gerecht zu werden, stehen insbesondere sogenannte Upper Mid-Market Unternehmen vor neuen Herausforderungen. Diese Unternehmen, die typischerweise Mitarbeiterzahlen im niedrigen Tausenderbereich aufweisen, sind verpflichtet, sowohl im eigenen Geschäftsbereich als auch bei unmittelbaren und mittelbaren Zulieferern Maßnahmen zum Schutz von Menschenrechten und zur Vermeidung von Umweltrisiken zu ergreifen. Häufig mangelt es in diesen Unternehmen an umfassender Erfahrung im Umgang mit Nachhaltigkeitsthemen, insbesondere in Bezug auf Menschenrechte und Umweltaspekte in der Lieferkette. Der Beitrag beschreibt anhand von Praxisbeispielen, wie diese Verantwortung erfolgreich übernommen werden kann. Es werden potenzielle Hürden, interne Diskussionen, der Bedarf an externer Expertise sowie der Einsatz von künstlicher Intelligenz zur Erleichterung der Umsetzung thematisiert.
