Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das Umweltmanagementsystem der Bundesgartenschau Mannheim 2023 zielt darauf ab, durch systematische und nachhaltige Planung ökologische Belastungen zu reduzieren. Im Fokus stehen zentrale Umweltaspekte wie Abfallmanagement, Energie- und Wasserverbrauch, Besuchendenmobilität und nachhaltige Beschaffung. Die Veranstaltung nutzte bestehende Strukturen des ehemaligen Spinelli-Geländes und setzte auf umweltschonende Maßnahmen wie die Erhaltung von Kaltluftentstehungsgebieten und die Wiederverwendung von Abbruchmaterialien. Ein nach EMAS zertifiziertes Umweltmanagementsystem und eine umfassende Analyse interner und externer Risiken und Potenziale gewährleisten eine fortlaufende Optimierung der Effizienz, was die Bundesgartenschau zu einem Vorbild für die nachhaltige Ausrichtung von Großveranstaltungen macht.
