Abstract

There have been an increasing number of different concepts and approaches available for university teaching that respond to the changes in society, the economy and technology and lead to change in this regard. For example, concepts are available that are designed to have a particularly activating effect on students. “Research-based learning” (German: “Forschendes Lernen”) is characterised by the fact that students help to shape, experience, and reflect on the process of a research project in its essential phases—from the development of questions and hypotheses to the selection and implementation of methods to the examination and presentation of results in independent work or in active collaboration in an overarching project.
