Abstract

Zusammenfassung Mit der Gründung der Deutschen Demokratischen Republik (DDR) im Jahre 1949 entstand nicht nur ein neuer Staat auf dem Gebiet des ehemaligen Deutschen Reiches, sondern auch eine völlig neue politische und gesellschaftliche Ordnung. Die DDR sah sich von Anfang an einer Vielzahl von Herausforderungen gegenübergestellt, die durch den Kalten Krieg und die Teilung Deutschlands noch verschärft wurden. In diesem Umfeld entwickelte sich die Spionage zu einem zentralen Instrument der staatlichen Sicherheitspolitik.
