Abstract

Zusammenfassung Sparkassen und Genossenschaftsbanken sind zum einen Gegenstand kontroverser Diskurse. Die Sparkassen müssen sich gefallen lassen, dass es manchen Bundesländern gut gefällt, wenn das Sparkassengeschäft vertikal in Landesbanken integriert ist und sich die Politik zugleich über Filialschließungen beschwert. Genossenschaftsbanken changieren dagegen zwischen Gemeinwohlökonomie einerseits und der Ausweitung des Geschäftsmodells auf Beyond Banking-Geschäftsfelder andererseits. Zum anderen sind erstaunliche Verbindungspunkte sichtbar. Sparkassen und Genossenschaftsbanken sind kleine, dezentrale, filialbasierte Stakeholder-Banken. Nahezu alle Aufgaben der kommunalen Daseinsvorsorge finden sich heute in genossenschaftlicher Rechtsform. Mit dem Finanzpunkt-Konzept von Frankfurter Volksbank und Taunus Sparkasse gibt es eine Blaupause für ein gemeinsames Filialnetz. Und in Frankreich wurden die Sparkassen zunächst in Genossenschaften umfirmiert und dann mit den Volksbanken fusioniert.
