Abstract

Zusammenfassung In diesem Kapitel untersuchen wir empirisch die Determinanten der Migration in europäische OECD-Länder. Dabei legen wir einerseits einen Schwerpunkt auf Berufe bzw. Qualifikationen, die besonders für Unternehmenszentralen relevant sind. Andererseits fokussieren wir uns mit der Analyse auf sehr entwickelte Herkunftsländer und klammern bewusst Migration aus Entwicklungsländern aus. Mit Hilfe eines Gravitationsmodells verwenden wir bilaterale Migrationsdaten nach Berufsgruppen, um die Treiber hochqualifizierter Migration in europäische Länder zu quantifizieren. Auf der Grundlage der geschätzten Modelle erstellen wir schließlich einen „Attraktivitätsindex“, mit dem die europäischen Länder verglichen werden können. Basierend auf diesen Resultaten leiten wir wichtige Implikationen für Österreichs „Headquarters Economy“ ab.
