Abstract

Zusammenfassung Dieses Kapitel untersucht, inwiefern kulturelle Einflüsse die Entwicklung von perfektionistischem Denken und seinen möglichen Konsequenzen, wie die Prokrastination und das Imposter-Phänomen, beeinflussen können. Kulturelle Einflüsse in Zusammenhang mit perfektionistischem Denken und Handeln sind insbesondere in Bezug auf den Umgang mit Leistungsdruck in vielen Studien nachweisbar. Kultur wird ferner als Werkzeug zur Bewältigung des Alltags betrachtet, das u. a. Interpretationen, Verhaltenserwartungen und Kommunikation umfasst. Wie Individuen kulturell erlernte Bewältigungsstrategien im Umgang mit Unsicherheit, z. B. Leistungsdruck, nutzen und umsetzen, kann unterschiedlich ausfallen, sodass sich bspw. kommunikative Konventionalisierungen in verschiedenen Sprachräumen bezüglich Leistung und Perfektion etabliert haben. Dies wird beispielshaft an verschiedenen Redewendungen und Idiomen zum Umgang mit diesen Themen dargestellt.
