Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Mittelstand gilt als Rückgrat der Wirtschaft und als wesentlicher Treiber für Innovation, Beschäftigung und Wachstum in Deutschland. Der Beitrag widmet sich der Frage, welchen Beitrag Kreditinstitute dabei leisten können, die nachhaltige Transformation der mittelständischen Wirtschaft voranzutreiben. Im Fokus stehen dabei Institute mit öffentlichem Auftrag, denen unterstellt wird, dass sie per se eine größere Stakeholdergruppe im Fokus haben als andere Institute, die sich in erster Linie nur auf Kundschaft, Mitglieder oder Shareholder konzentrieren. Am Beispiel von Sparkassen wird gezeigt, wie auch mittlere und kleine Unternehmen, die nicht unter die Anforderung der Nachhaltigkeitsregulierung fallen, effizient und ressourcenschonend bezüglich ihrer Nachhaltigkeitsrisiken aber auch hinsichtlich ihrer Transformationsleistung bewertet werden können. Diese Bewertungen sind neben der engen Beziehung zwischen Kreditinstitut und Unternehmen dann Basis für spezifische Finanzierungslösungen für nachhaltige Geschäftsmodelle im Mittelstand.
