Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die meisten Unternehmer wünschen sich, dass ihre Kinder das Unternehmen erfolgreich und ohne Streit fortführen. Die entscheidende Frage bei der Weichenstellung für die Zukunft eines Familienunternehmens ist allerdings, ob das Unternehmen an die nächste Generation weitergegeben werden kann oder ob nicht ein Verkauf die bessere Wahl für das Unternehmen und die Familie ist. Hierfür bedarf es der Auseinandersetzung des Unternehmers und seiner Familie mit verschiedenen Fragen, die abhängig von der Familie, dem Unternehmen sowie der sonstigen Vermögensstruktur einer individuellen Lösung bedürfen. Inwieweit ESG-Kriterien dabei wichtig und deshalb mit zu berücksichtigen sind und inwiefern sie sogar zum „Treiber für M&A Transaktionen“ werden können, wird in diesem Beitrag besprochen.
