Abstract

Zusammenfassung Navigating the expectations and perspectives of young professionals in the publishing industry requires an understanding of their priorities, aspirations, and the challenges they face as part of a digitally evolving job market. These individuals seek more than just financial compensation; they also desire work-life balance, opportunities for personal and professional development, and a workplace that values technology, diversity, and inclusivity. The global shift towards flexible working arrangements underscores the changing nature of productivity and job satisfaction. Theoretical frameworks, such as Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and Herzberg’s Two-Factor Theory, offer insights into these evolving expectations, emphasising the importance of aligning individual desires with organisational goals. The role of Human Resource practices becomes crucial in this regard, as effective strategies for recruitment, training, and career development are key to meeting the needs of young professionals. Moreover, the concept of fair compensation goes beyond mere salary, encompassing a broader spectrum of benefits that address financial stability and career progression. This reevaluation of remuneration models is essential to create an environment where young professionals feel supported and valued. This chapter explores the expectations of young professionals entering the publishing sector and outlines an overview of what emerging professionals seek in their work environment to increase their motivation, engagement, and productivity.
