Abstract

Zusammenfassung Destinationsmanagement leistet einen entscheidenden Beitrag zur Entwicklung von touristischen Orten und Regionen sowie zunehmend von Lebensräumen für die einheimische Bevölkerung. Die Vermittlung von Impulsen und Wissen für die touristische Angebots- und Produktentwicklung, das Führen einer unverwechselbaren Destinationsmarke, ein zukunftsorientiertes Destinationsmarketing sowie das Knüpfen von branchenübergreifenden Netzwerken und Kooperationen spielen dabei tragende Rollen. Doch wer ist für das Management solcher Prozesse verantwortlich? Destinationsmanagementorganisationen (DMOs), wie Tourismusverbände oder Tourismus-Marketinggesellschaften – in der Regel öffentlich-rechtlich finanziert – übernehmen diese Aufgaben bzw. sind als Treiber zu verstehen. Die Personalstärke dieser Organisationen kann je nach Aufgabenbereichen und finanzieller Ausstattung zwischen wenigen Personen und 60 oder mehr Personen stark variieren. In diesem Beitrag wird die Arbeit einer DMO von verschiedenen Seiten beleuchtet, wobei sowohl strategische Aufgaben als auch einzelne Berufsbilder im Destinationsmanagement berücksichtigt werden.
