Arbeitsethik in interkultureller Perspektive

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Einstellungen zur Arbeit sind ein wichtiger Teil des kulturell tradierten Wertesystems. Wegen ihrer potenziellen Bedeutung für den beruflichen und wirtschaftlichen Erfolg sind diese Einstellungen Gegenstand einer inzwischen umfangreichen empirischen Forschung geworden. Ein Großteil dieser Forschung orientiert sich an Max Webers Konzept der protestantischen Arbeitsethik. Im vorliegenden Beitrag wird eine Übersicht über die zentralen Ergebnisse dieser Forschung mit besonderer Berücksichtigung der interkulturellen Perspektive gegeben. Zuerst wird auf den Ursprung des Konzepts der protestantischen Arbeitsethik, seine theoretische Definition und seine Messung mittels Fragebögen sowie seine empirisch gefundenen Korrelate eingegangen. Danach werden Befunde zu interkulturellen Gemeinsamkeiten und Unterschieden in arbeitsethischen Einstellungen berichtet. Anschließend wird auf die Bedeutung von Arbeitsethik im Bildungsbereich, die intergenerationale Transmission von Arbeitsethik, die Stabilität von arbeitsethischen Einstellungen über die Lebensspanne und ihre Veränderung über die Generationen eingegangen. Abschließend werden die Ergebnisse zusammengefasst, offene Fragen aufgezeigt und Anknüpfungspunkte für die Erziehungswissenschaft genannt.
