Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Bekämpfung des Klimawandels zwingt zu einschneidenden Massnahmen. Hohe CO2 Preise sind unvermeidlich. Aber neue Kosten lähmen die Wettbewerbsfähigkeit und bremsen das Wachstum. Ist Innovation die Lösung? Mit Prozessinnovationen können die Unternehmen die Produktion emissionssparend verbessern, den Kostenanstieg durch CO2-Steuern wenigstens teilweise kompensieren, und ihre preisliche Wettbewerbsfähigkeit wieder steigern. Wenn die Emissionen sinken, ohne die Kosten zu steigern, wäre das Ziel einer wachstumsfreundlichen Klimapolitik erreicht. Entscheidend ist, wie stark die privaten F&E-Investitionen zunehmen, wenn die Umweltsteuern steigen.
