Abstract

The case study on the family-run company Kahmann & Ellerbrock opens up a whole new perspective on thinking about hidden champions. Not being a hidden champion themselves, however, Kahmann & Ellerbrock’s business model aims at developing into a unique partner for hidden champions by strengthening the potential for success. The company thrives on its long-standing close partnerships with special access to the valuable knowledge of its partners, the hidden champions. In this case, students learn how a closely interwoven ecosystem and a strong corporate culture can enable Kahmann & Ellerbrock to quickly react to the requirements of their customers’ innovative need and internationalization strategies, while at the same time achieving joint regional embeddedness.
