Abstract

Zusammenfassung Denk’ ich an KI in der Nacht … dann bin ich um den Schlaf gebracht. – Für die einen ist sie eine Technologie, die uns verheißungsvolle Fortschritte in der Medizin, Forschung, Wirtschaft und zahlreichen weiteren Lebensbereichen bietet. Für die anderen ist KI ein Albtraum, der sich unaufhaltsam ausbreitet und zahlreiche Arbeitsplätze vernichtet. In welche Richtung das Pendel ausschlagen wird, steht noch nicht fest. Was heute schon feststeht: Die Entwicklung von KI wird unser aller Leben verändern. Brynjolfsson und McAfee sind beispielsweise davon überzeugt, dass wir uns schon längst im „Second Machine Age“ befinden. In Anlehnung an die industrielle Revolution könnte diese Phase unseren Alltag ähnlich radikal verändern. Basis hierfür sind die exponentielle Steigerung der Rechnerleistung und gleichzeitig die zentralen Charakteristika der digitalen Güter (vgl. Ittstein 2020).
