Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das Technologiemanagement spielt eine entscheidende Rolle im Gesundheitswesen, nicht nur in Industrienationen, sondern ebenso in Schwellenländern. Hierbei stellt der Zugang zu Arzneimitteln ein großes Problem dar, da die Gesundheitsausgaben in Schwellenländern meist von den Patienten selbst getragen werden müssen. Medikamente für lebensrettende Behandlungen, deren Patentschutz noch nicht ausgelaufen ist, sind häufig unerschwinglich. Patente werden jedoch als wesentlich für Fortschritt und Innovation angesehen, insbesondere in der pharmazeutischen Industrie. In diesem Buchkapitel wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich Unternehmen in diesem Spannungsfeld bewegen und ihr Technologiemanagement und insbesondere ihr Patentmanagement in Schwellenländern gestalten. Dabei spielen rechtliche Rahmenbedingungen, lokale Regierungen und Maßnahmen wie Zwangslizenzen eine wichtige Rolle.
