Abstract

Zusammenfassung Asymmetrische Verhältnisse sind immer auch wechselseitige Abhängigkeitsverhältnisse; Autoritätsverhältnisse sind häufig Anerkennungsverhältnisse. Eltern sind abhängig von der Folgsamkeit ihrer Kinder, Lehrpersonen von jener ihrer SchülerInnen und Vorgesetzte von ihren MitarbeiterInnen. Führungskompetenzen sind nur in dem Grad wirksam, in dem die Mitarbeiterinnen bereit und fähig sind, sich führen zu lassen. Das Ideal der Gleichheit und damit die Erwartung symmetrischer Kommunikationsverhältnisse sind moderne Errungenschaften, welche auch sozial ungleiche InteraktionspartnerInnen unter Druck setzen, die Asymmetrie zu kaschieren. Mit der damit verbundenen strukturellen „Unaufrichtigkeit“ der Kommunikationsverhältnisse umzugehen, fällt nicht allen leicht. Dieser Umgang erfordert passende Masken, mehr oder weniger raffinierte Ausdrucksweisen, die Bereitschaft, den Gefühlsausdruck zu modellieren, d. h. ein situationssensibles Selbstpräsentationsmanagement.
