Abstract

Zusammenfassung Innerhalb einer langen Zeit vom Untergang des römischen Reiches an vollzog sich ganz allmählich der Übergang von der Naturalwirtschaft zur Geldwirtschaft. Die alles beherrschende Naturalwirtschaft, das System der Naturalleistungen und persönlichen Dienste erklären es, dass es der eigentlichen Besteuerung kaum bedurfte, insbesondere nicht in der Friedenszeit. Diese Leistungen waren jedoch für die Bauern mit kleinem Grundbesitz ganz besonders hart gewesen.
