Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wettbewerb ist überall. Sichtbar und erfreulich für die Zuschauer im Sport, anstrengend aber leistungssteigernd in der Wirtschaft. Er zählt zu den grundlegenden Prinzipien der Sozialen Marktwirtschaft. Aber er ist nicht geliebt. Wettbewerb hat viele Gegner. Viele Missstände werden ihm angelastet. Kampagnen gegen Freihandel und Globalisierung sowie Teile der Klimaschutzbewegung haben sich als Gegner von Markt und Wettbewerb positioniert. Kapitalismus wird als Problem, nicht als Lösung angesehen. Krisen wie die Wirtschafts- und Finanzkrise oder die Corona-Krise mit den resultierenden Unterbrechungen globaler Lieferketten geben immer wieder Anlass zu fundamentaler Kritik an unserem Wirtschaftssystem.
