Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das war eine Abgabe, die die Gerichtsherrschaft den Gerichtsuntertanen zur Deckung der Kosten für die Errichtung des Galgens auferlegte. Im Amt Medingen bei Uelzen wurde 1670 aus erzieherischen Gründen die Einwohnerschaft zum Bau des Galgens herangezogen. „Was das Gericht zu bawen gekostet, haben solches die Semptlichen Medingischen Ambt- Untertanen unter sich aufbringen müssen…“ (zitiert in Schomburg, Walter 1992, S. 113) Beim Celler Hochgericht wurden im 17. und 18. Jh. alle holzverarbeitenden Meister aufgefordert, unentgeltlich zu arbeiten; nach Fertigstellung des Galgens wurden ein paar Fass Bier spendiert. Ein Fernbleiben von dieser Gemeindepfl icht wurde mit fünf Talern Strafe belegt.
