Concluding Remarks and Outlook

Abstract

At the end of this book, it is once again made clear why it is time to think and live leadership in a new way. We need a new consciousness in leadership, be it in politics, business or civil society, without disregarding the economic goals of companies. The pandemic triggered by the Covid 19 virus and the climate crisis reinforce the need for a reorientation on an unprecedented scale. Above all, the question arises as to which criteria we will use to judge managers and their performance in the future. One thing is certain: the previous criteria no longer are, because they have failed. We had to learn painfully that wrong performance measurement criteria very reliably lead to wrong behaviour and this applies to all areas of society. It is now time to change this for a better future. From Victor Hugo comes the quote “Nothing in the world is so powerful as an idea whose time has come.” The readers of this book received very numerous suggestions on this, especially how to successfully “onboard” into their new leadership role and also remain excellent leaders in the long run.
