Abstract

The automation of activities in controlling & accounting has been intensively discussed in science and practice for years. In the meantime, the efficiency pressure on the finance organization has increased so much that, according to surveys, automation now occupies the number one spot on the CFO agenda. A far-reaching automation of processes in controlling & accounting has failed so far because traditional automation technologies (e.g. BPMS) are usually only used for a few, central business processes due to the IT costs required for this. Processes such as reporting are usually not among them. It is therefore hardly surprising that for the majority of companies, the manual preparation of financial data, for example for the regular creation of reports, still plays a major role today.
